• Responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of instruments
• Required to trouble-shoot, de-bug and program controllers relating to mill process and other electronic equipment
• Calibration of instruments
• Set up and preparation of drawings and schematics for control loops
• Improve system productivity, reliability, safety and stability

Post-Secondary Institutes

• SIAST – Instrument Engineering Technology
o Diploma Program
o Require: Grade 12 with a minimum of 60% in Math B30, Math C30 and Physics 30
o Length: 77 weeks (five academic semesters) and three four-month paid Co-operative Education work terms

• Saskatchewan Apprenticeship – Industrial Instrument Technician
o Must be working in the trade and under the supervision of a certified journeyperson
o Completed Grade 12
o Length: 4 years including 1,700 hours of technical training and on-the-job training
